A is for Atonement

We seek atonement because we are in some form of agony - physical pain that stems from and connects to other mental blocks. As we all suffer through the current Covid crises, many of us find ourselves in the scary position of having to also navigate other illnesses and issues. I am in a personal struggle with a super bug known as C Diff. It came from the overuse of antibiotics, so in a sense I have done it to myself. It is brutal in the sense that it is highly contagious and has required me to isolate from my already isolated family.
Atonement is a type of reconciliation, a way of repairing our own bad behavior. It feels like the effects of both Covid (the result of society's over indulgence) and my own personal struggle with C Diff (the result of my wanting a quick fix from antibiotics) stem from a constant grabbing for more when what we already had was perfect in any given moment. If anything, both crises demand from us contentment - peace in the present moment. Even as we long for what has been lost, we can sit clearly in the realization that love is abundant. Love exists in an unlimited supply and we have the power to hook into it at any point.
We need to forgive ourselves as individuals, as a country and as a society for decisions we have made in the past at the same time as we realize forgiveness itself is unnecessary. It is time to let go. Time to acknowledge the truth in the words "Thy will be done." Only then can we accept the goodness and abundant love in where we are now.
